Many Nigerian students ask whether they can go straight into a bachelor’s degree abroad after WASSCE or NECO. The answer depends on the country, the university and your results.

When direct entry works

Universities in the USA, Canada and several other countries often accept strong WASSCE/NECO results directly into Year 1. Some UK universities also do, especially with excellent grades or additional qualifications such as A-Levels.

When a Foundation year is the better choice

A Foundation year gives you time to adjust to a new education system, improve academic English and build subject knowledge – and it guarantees progression at many partner universities when you pass.
